President to Paterson: GTFO

With or without White House interference, Governor Paterson ain't gonna be governor of New York after 2010. His poll numbers are abysmal, and even if he does decide to run, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo will beat him handily in a primary, and likely win the general election against Rudy.

Given that this is the most likely outcome, I think the White House let it be known publicly that Paterson doesn't have their support to keep any coming Democratic primary from taking on a racial character. Obama's support gives Cuomo cover to take on one of only two black governors in the country. However, ultimately I believe Paterson will spare us and not run.

Elliot Spitzer should not have resigned.
